How we can help at Berkeley Pharmacy
Our pharmacist can assess your symptoms and, where appropriate (for example symptoms lasting around 10 days with no improvement), may offer a steroid nasal spray or antibiotics.
This is part of the NHS Pharmacy First service — free on the NHS, so there’s nothing to pay for the consultation or any NHS medicines supplied.
Self-care tips
- Most cases clear up within 2 to 3 weeks without antibiotics
- Rest and drink plenty of fluids
- Use over-the-counter painkillers
- Try a salt-water nasal rinse
When to get urgent help
- A severe headache
- Swelling or redness around the eyes
- Changes to your vision
- Confusion or a stiff neck
