Travel Clinic and Travel Vaccinations in Berkeley, Gloucestershire
Destination-specific travel health risk assessments, vaccinations and malaria prevention advice.
Yellow fever vaccination
Berkeley Pharmacy is a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre (Reg. no. UKYFVC9726). We give the yellow fever vaccine and issue the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP). The certificate becomes valid 10 days after vaccination, so please book at least 10 days before you travel. A consultation is needed first to check the vaccine is suitable for you.
Which vaccinations you need depends on where you are going, your itinerary, the activities you have planned, how long you are staying and your own medical history. Two travellers visiting the same country can need quite different protection, so at Berkeley Pharmacy we do not simply hand out a standard list. We carry out a full travel health risk assessment first, then recommend what is appropriate for you and your trip.
The list of travel vaccinations below is provided for information only. All vaccinations are given following that assessment, and we will talk you through what is recommended, why, and how far in advance you need to book. We recommend booking six to eight weeks before you travel wherever possible, so there is time to complete any courses and for your immunity to develop. We can often help at shorter notice, so please still get in touch if your trip is coming up soon.
Our Travel Clinic in Berkeley provides destination-specific travel health risk assessments, vaccinations and malaria prevention advice for travellers across Gloucestershire. We welcome patients from Berkeley, Sharpness, Cam, Dursley, Wotton-under-Edge, Thornbury, Stroud and the surrounding villages, with easy access from junctions 13 and 14 of the M5.
Travelling with a heart condition?
If you have had a heart attack, a stent, heart surgery or a pacemaker or ICD fitted, or you have heart failure or atrial fibrillation, your airline or travel insurer may ask for a letter confirming you are fit to fly. Heart Fit to Fly offers a document review by a consultant cardiologist.

Find out moreHow we can supply treatment without a GP appointment
Some treatments at Berkeley Pharmacy are supplied under a Patient Group Direction, or PGD – a written instruction, signed by a doctor and a pharmacist, that legally allows our trained pharmacists to supply and administer specified medicines to people who meet defined clinical criteria, without a prescription from your GP. If you do not meet the criteria set out in the PGD we cannot supply the treatment, and we will explain why and advise you on the best next step. Our pharmacists also work as independent prescribers where that is appropriate.
